Protest Against the Adulteration of All Imported Milk Powder
Mawbima Lanka Padanama has sent ten (10) samples of imported milk powder taken from the market namely,
- Removed as per the court order
- Maliban
- Removed as per the court order
- Milgro
- Diamond
- Lakspray
- Removed as per the court order
- Removed as per the court order
- Kothmale
- Non branded bulk packets from Pettah market

to a World Health Organization (WHO) approved company laboratory ECLIPSE SCIENTIPIC GROUP. The reports have revealed that all those ten samples have been adulterated with non dairy fat while separating dairy fat for commercial gains. The percentage of non dairy fat in those samples on average is 23% which is relatively a very high level of adulteration. It is obvious that importers of these milk powder have misled the public while violating the Food Act and at the same time cheating the government of taxes amounting to 7000 Million. Mawbima Lanka Padanama has requested government to take action under the Food Act and the Consumer Protection Act.
